Job summary

CoreVest Finance is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the full cycle of mortgage loan portfolios, including securitized and unsecuritized assets, month-end close, and quarterly reporting. The role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional with strong accounting fundamentals.

Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, reporting packages for earnings releases and SEC filings, and collaboration with Asset Management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • 4–8 years of progressive accounting experience; mortgage loans, securities, or derivatives preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with Workday or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process transactions, journal entries, and month-end reconciliations.
  • Produce and analyze system-generated data reports.
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger and subledger data.
  • Review monthly/quarterly valuations and prepare reporting packages.
  • Support SEC filings (10-Q/10-K) and earnings releases.
  • Maintain REO subledger and rental income/expense schedules.
  • Review funding requests and construction draws with Asset Management.
  • Assist process-improvement initiatives in loan products and reporting workflows.
  • Oversee accounts payable controls and expense accruals.
  • Lead or support major accounting projects and memos.
  • Prepare quarterly performance ratios and audit support.

Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the full cycle of activity related to securitized and unsecuritized mortgage loan portfolios, as well as warehouse facilities. This includes daily transaction processing, month-end close activities, and quarterly reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional with a strong foundation in accounting and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process transactions within subledgers and prepare journal entries and month-end reconciliations.
  • Produce and analyze system-generated data reports.
  • Perform data analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy of general ledger and subledger data.
  • Assist in the review of monthly and quarterly valuations.
  • Prepare internal and external reporting packages for month-end and quarter-end, including support for earnings releases and SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K)
  • Maintain REO subledger and rental income and expense recognition schedules.
  • Review funding requests and construction draws from the Asset Management team.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to loan products and reporting workflows.
  • Oversee accounts payable processes and maintain controls over expense accruals.
  • Lead or support implementation of projects with significant impact on the accounting function.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos related to new transactions, pricing, and interest income.
  • Analyze and prepare average balances and key financial ratios for quarterly reporting.
  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience
Experience
  • 4 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience with mortgage loans, securities, or derivative products preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Workday or similar accounting systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive change.

A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $130,000-$140,000. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
