Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will oversee critical accounting operations and financial management functions to ensure accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, and compliance across the organization. This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional with experience in the construction and/or utility‑scale solar industry, strong leadership capabilities, and expertise in job costing, Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting, and contractor‑related accounting practices.

KeyResponsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and analyze Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules, job cost reporting, and project profitability analysis.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reporting packages.
• Monitor and manage company cash flow, cash reserves, debt obligations, and short‑and‑long‑term cash forecasting to support operational and growth objectives.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Oversee multi‑state sales and use tax compliance, including accurate preparation and timely filing requirements.
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, banking institutions, and other third‑party professionals.
• Identify and implement process improvements, internal controls, and accounting best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules, including tracking asset purchases, transfers, and disposals.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership, training, and guidance to the accounting team while supporting cross‑functional collaboration with operations and project management teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction, EPC, or renewable energy industry.
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and construction billing processes, including AIA billing and lien waivers.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting software such as Sage 300, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and leadership levels.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting teams.
