Job summary

TheASPTeam in Everett, WA seeks an Accounting Manager to lead all accounting and finance activities reporting to the Owner. You will oversee monthly close, financial reporting, planning and cash flow management, while balancing hands-on transactional work with strategic analysis.

You will implement internal controls, manage AP/AR, coordinate with the CPA, and supervise a small team. The role requires GAAP knowledge, attention to detail, and strong communication to support sound business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience in a small company.

• Experience managing an accounting team.
• Experience with mid-range accounting systems and common business software applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions to generate accurate financial statements monthly, quarterly and yearly.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager reports to the Owner and manages all of the accounting and finance activities of the business. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for financial reporting, the month end close process, planning and analysis, and cash flow management. The Accounting Manager will possess the ability to move from detailed, transaction entry job duties to the higher-level capability of providing planning recommendations. This position also assists in managing the inventory activities for the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage accounting functions in order to generate accurate financial statements in a timely manner on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
• Institute and maintain internal controls.
• Develop and maintain effective record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures, including maintaining the chart of accounts.
• Implement and oversee continuous process improvements.
• Monitor and analyze cash flow to maximize efficiency of cash balances and loan amounts.
• Manage accounts payable and customer payments. Communicate and coordinate accounting policies, practices, and procedures.
• Work with outside CPA firm to conduct tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
• Supervise AP, AR, banking, and payroll in a productive, team-focused environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Experience being hands on in a small company.
• Experience working with mid-range accounting systems and experience working in companies using business software applications.
• Strong financial analysis skills.
• Experience managing an accounting team.
• Current knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience in the retail, distribution, or job costing business is preferred.
• Inventory management experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze discrepancies, identify and recommend solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
