POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager is the CEO’s finance and accounting partner and manages all of the accounting and finance activities of the business. As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for financial reporting, the month end close process, planning and analysis, and cash flow management. You will move from detailed, transaction entry oversight to the higher-level planning recommendations to the CEO.This position also assists in developing financial processes, employee onboarding and payroll, and managing the inventory activities for the company.

This role offers an opportunity for growth and expanding exposure and responsibilities from developing banking relationships and supporting debt financing to support for strategic financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling. You will be supported and mentored by a CFO advisor with extensive experience in the industry and strategic finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage accounting functions in order to generate accurate financial statements in a timely manner on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
• Institute and maintain internal controls.
• Develop and maintain effective record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures including maintaining the chart of accounts.
• Implement and oversee continuous process improvements.
• Monitor and analyze cash flow to maximize efficiency of cash balances and loan amounts.
• Manage accounts payable and customer payments. Communicate and coordinate accounting policies, practices, and procedures.
• Work with outside CPA firm to conduct tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
• Supervise AP, AR, banking, and payroll in a productive, team-focused environment.
• Support new hire onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Experience being hands on in a small company.
• Experience working with mid-range accounting systems and experience working in companies using business software applications.
• Strong financial analysis skills.
• Experience managing an accounting team.
• Current knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience in the retail, distribution, or job costing business is preferred.
• Inventory management experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze discrepancies, identify and recommend solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
