Job summary

LHH in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and the month-end close. You will support financial reporting and work closely with leadership to ensure accurate results.

The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities or 3+ years of public accounting audit experience serving real estate clients. CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with prior supervisory experience, or 3+ years of public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience in real estate, property management, construction, REIT, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure U.S. GAAP compliance.
  • Review and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary contact for external auditors.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting processes.
  • Support real estate accounting functions, including property-level reporting, lease accounting, and tenant-related transactions.
  • Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with operations and executive leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.

Job description

Our growing real estate organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage the month-end close process, and support financial reporting activities. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with either 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including supervisory responsibilities or 3+ years of public accounting audit experience serving real estate clients. The Accounting Manager will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
