Job summary

Crown Beverage Packaging is seeking an Accounting Manager in Dayton, OH. You will oversee all accounting functions, including month-end closing, reconciliations, payroll, and accounts payable, while driving cost optimization and robust internal controls on the plant floor.

You will collaborate with multiple departments, lead financial reporting, and support audits while ensuring GAAP compliance. Occasional travel and flexible hours may be required to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Experience working with an ERP system is required.
  • Three (3) years plant manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel may be required.
  • Evening or weekend hours may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries.
  • Prepares GL accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports to summarize financial position.
  • Maintains Accounting Policy database.
  • Identifies control gaps and implements procedures to resolve deficiencies.
  • Assists in internal and external audits.
  • Develops financial analysis and cost accounting skills.
  • Oversees payroll and accounts payable.
  • Assists PC&L Manager in daily production reports.

Division Overview

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Position Overview

You aren’t just a spreadsheet wrangler—you are the financial co-pilot to the Plant Manager. In this role, you will lead the charge on cost optimization, champion airtight internal controls, and unlock the insights that keep our production lines running lean, profitable, and ahead of the competition. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including month end processes, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, payroll, sales commissions, and accounts payable.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts documenting business transactions
  • Prepares GL Account and Bank Reconciliation
  • Prepares financial statements and other reports to summarize the company's financial position.
  • Maintains Accounting Policy database
  • Identifies control gaps, develops and implements appropriate control procedures to resolve control deficiencies
  • Assists in preparation for internal and external audits
  • Develop financial analysis and cost accounting skills
  • Oversees payroll and AP functions
  • Assists PC&L Manager in daily production reports
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP
  • Proven track record of working in a team environment with a variety of departments
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Three (3) years Plant Manufacturing experience
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel
  • May occasionally need to work evening or weekend hours
Preferred Requirements
  • Packaging industry experience
  • AS400 experience
  • An analytical mind paired with a proactive, solution-oriented attitude that thrives on the fast pace of a plant floor.

Must have very strong PC skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel (advanced) Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy Position requires someone who is self-motivated, analytical problem solver and has excellent communication skills Strong organizational skills Strong written and verbal skills Strong work ethic with ability to work with little supervision Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring completion

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Working Conditions

Generally works in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties inside a plant environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.

The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.

The noise level is frequently loud.
