Job description

SHOE SHOW, INC., the country’s largest privately held footwear retailer in business 64 years with more than 1,000 stores in 47 states, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The individual will work out of our corporate headquarters located in Concord, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply!

What you should know:

The Accounting Manager has overall responsibility for the integrity of the general ledger and the general accounting functions including inventory, sales and use tax, and property tax. This position ensures all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.

What you will do:

1. Own responsibility for general ledger monthly/annual financial closings including review of journal entries, variance analysis, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
2. Serve as a key member of the team managing the audit process, including working directly with outside auditors and tax preparers.
3. Supervise the general accounting staff.
4. Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports as well as identify key trends and variances.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree and active CPA license or CPA licensure in process.
2. Public accounting experience preferred.
3. At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
4. Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to collaborate with team as well as cross-functionally.
5. Track record of successfully identifying and implementing process change.
6. Must be self-directed with excellent initiative and organizational skills.
7. Background in internal controls.
