Why This Role Is Important
- Play a key role in the month-end and year-end close processes
- Own GL maintenance, account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Partner with Finance and other departments to ensure financial information tells the full story by addressing and resolving accounting inquiries
- Supervise a team of accountants – coach, support, and develop their growth
- Analyze expense accounts, proactively identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost optimization
- Identify ways to automate, optimize, and improve financial operations
- Coordinate with auditors and internal staff during financial statement and overhead audits
- Support acquisition due diligence, data consolidation and integration activities, as needed
The Background That Fits
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in medium to large corporate environments
- At least 2 years of leadership and people management experience
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
- Tech-savvy with Excel, ERP systems, BI analytics, and workflow automation
- Prior experience in the A/E/C industry preferred; FAR/CAS accounting experience a plus
