• Public accounting background (Big 4 or strong regional firm) preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly close activities and ensure GL accuracy
• Prepare POC revenue recognition
• Prepare and maintain WIP schedules
• Analyze job cost reporting across multiple projects
• Partner with Project Managers on budgets, cost-to-complete, and margins
• Monitor committed costs, change orders, retainage, and margins
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
• Support external auditors and year-end review
• Assist in improving accounting procedures and internal controls
• Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff

Overview

We are partnering with a well-respected construction organization in Northeast Atlanta seeking an Accounting Manager to support core accounting operations for active projects and corporate reporting. This role is highly visible to leadership and plays a key part in ensuring accurate project financials, cost tracking, and revenue recognition across multiple concurrent jobs.

This is a very hands-on position ideal for someone who understands how accounting interacts with operations, project management, and executives — not just the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly close process activities and ensure general ledger accuracy
• Prepare Percentage-of-Completion (POC) revenue recognition
• Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
• Prepare and analyze job cost reporting across multiple projects
• Partner with Project Managers to review budgets, cost-to-complete, and profit fade/gain
• Monitor committed costs, change orders, retainage, and project margins
• Prepare financial statements and management reporting packages
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
• Support external auditors and year-end financial review
• Assist in improving accounting procedures and internal controls
• Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff as needed

Required Qualifications

• CPA required
• 5+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry accounting
• Direct experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and POC accounting
• Experience partnering with operations and project teams
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition
• Prior public accounting experience (Big 4 or strong regional firm preferred)

Preferred Background

• Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant within a commercial contractor or construction services company
• Experience reviewing project financials with ownership or executives
• ERP/job cost system experience (Sage, Viewpoint, CMiC, Foundation, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills
