HRmango is partnering with our client to hire an experienced Accounting Manager to join their growing team. This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong construction industry background who is ready to take ownership of day‑to‑day accounting operations, lead a team, and continue growing within the organization.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, and core accounting functions while playing a key role in strengthening construction accounting practices, particularly job costing, WIP, contract accounting, and revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, including setting priorities, assigning work, reviewing output, and supporting ongoing training.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, consolidations, close calendars, and management reporting.
- Support the Corporate Controller with accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP.
- Lead monthly WIP and construction contract accounting, including:
- Job costing
- Estimates to complete
- Projected margins
- Progress billings
- Retainage
- Change orders
- Contract assets and liabilities
- ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting consistency, and data accuracy.
- Coordinate state and local tax compliance and support payroll tax administration across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support annual audits, tax filings, budgets, forecasts, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and communicate meaningful insights to the Corporate Controller and operational leadership.
- Partner with business leaders to improve financial visibility and support stronger operational decision‑making.
- Assist with special projects and additional accounting initiatives as the organization continues to grow.
Required Qualifications
- Previous accounting experience within the construction industry is required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years of experience leading, supervising, or directly managing accounting team members.
- Strong hands‑on experience with construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and contract accounting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Experience with state and payroll tax compliance, ideally including:
- Multi‑state registrations
- Sales and use tax
- Contractor exemptions
- Certified payroll
- Prevailing wage requirements
- Union reporting
- Related reconciliations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with accounting and/or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
