Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required or equivalent mix of education/experience.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting or general ledger experience.
• Solid command of U.S. GAAP and strong technical accounting skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities and serve as main point of contact for Finance.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely results.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting docs for GL integrity.
• Assist with internal and external financial reporting and variance analyses.
• Support annual audit by compiling schedules and responding to requests.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls; document procedures.

About the Opportunity

Steven Douglas is partnering with an established, multi-location retail organization to hire an Accounting Manager for its Finance and Accounting team. This person will help keep the company’s financial records accurate and timely, play a central role in the close, and work with departments across the business to support sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily accounting activities and serve as a reliable go-to resource for the Finance team
• Carry out and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close so results are accurate and on schedule
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation to keep the general ledger clean
• Help produce internal and external financial reports along with variance analyses
• Assist with the annual audit by building schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to auditor requests
• Uphold compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, and financial reporting requirements
• Help build, document, and refine accounting procedures and internal controls, finding ways to work more efficiently
• Collaborate with Construction, Maintenance, IT, Merchandising, and Operations to make sure transactions are recorded and reported correctly
• Contribute financial analysis, ad hoc reporting, and support for special projects
• Keep up with changing accounting standards and best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or general ledger experience
• Solid command of U.S. GAAP
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and audit support
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system (SAP strongly preferred)
• Sharp analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
• Clear communicator, both written and verbal, who works well across departments
• Strong integrity, professionalism, and accountability
• Able to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

• Familiarity with tools such as Avalara, Alteryx, Tableau, or Essbase
