Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Intern for the SDI BioCarbon Solutions Division in Columbus, MS, for Summer 2027. The internship immerses you in real projects impacting the business, including month-end close, journal entries, and financial reporting.

You will gain exposure to budgeting, audits, fixed assets, and capital projects while collaborating with accounting staff and operations teams. Housing and other benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Develops strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proven ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end or quarter-end close activities.
• Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting tasks.
• Contribute to internal and external audits by validating compliance and controls.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, resolving discrepancies.
• Assist with capital project accounting, fixed assets, and expense reporting.
• Collaborate with accounting staff and operations teams to improve processes.
• Participate in special projects as directed by supervisors.
