Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has an opening for an Accounting Intern in our General Accounting Department, located in Lansing, MI. The internship runs May 17, 2027 - August 13, 2027 with a pay rate of $23 per hour.

You will learn analytics, assist with capital projects, and support decision-making through ledger research and SAP reporting. Qualified candidates are currently enrolled in accounting/finance/business administration programs, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and plans to take fall

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution with a focus on Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or a related field with junior or senior status during the summer of 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Must be enrolled in fall classes 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assist with capital project creation, maintenance, and closure.
• Capital asset review and in-service activity.
• Navigate SAP to run reports, record accounting transactions, and research ledger detail history.
• Assigned accounting projects, which may include account reconciliations, supporting audit requests, and miscellaneous research.
