Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) in Lansing, MI seeks an Accounting Intern for the General Accounting Department. This full-time summer internship runs May 17, 2027 to August 13, 2027, paying $23.00 per hour.

Interns learn analytics, support accounting improvement projects, and work under a mentor and the General Accounting team. Responsibilities include capital project handling, SAP reporting, and aiding audits while following safety rules and company policies.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited institution with a focus on Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or a related field with junior or senior status during summer 2027.
• Must be enrolled in fall classes 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• A cover letter is requested with your submission.

Responsibilities

• Assist with current projects including capital project creation, maintenance and closure.
• Navigate SAP to run reports, record accounting transactions, and research ledger detail history.
• Support accounting projects and prepare audit documentation.
• Follow safety and company policies and attend required training.
• Predictable and reliable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
