Job summary

First Roles is offering a part-time, extended internship in Des Moines, focused on accounting for college students pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Interns will engage in preparing monthly/quarterly reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation, while developing professional skills and contributing to various projects.

The role is temporary, nonexempt, hourly, and involves learning across accounting tasks with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Must be a college student, sophomore or higher, enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with data exchange tools and concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective project management skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports.
• Assist in preparation of account reconciliations, journal entry files, and required documentation.
• Support planning processes and compile documentation for audit or other requests.
• Provide project assistance.
• Perform responsibilities within determined time frames with a high degree of accuracy.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company.
• Maintain professional competence and skills to complete responsibilities.
• Maintain sensitive and confidential information.
• Attend work regularly and support employee policies and safety rules.
• Ensure compliance with all policies, codes and regulations; understand and follow them.
