Job summary

Direct Supply, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Intern to gain hands-on experience in corporate accounting. You’ll support general ledger activities, journal entries, and month-end reporting while leveraging AI and automation to drive efficiency.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Finance and cross-functional teams, analysis of actual-to-budget variances, and the preparation of financial reports to inform leadership decisions. This internship is part-time with flexible summer hours.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate Accounting program with completion of at least one foundational accounting course.
• GPA of 3.3 or higher.
• Ability to work 15–20 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis and basic financial modeling.
• Ability to analyze financial information, investigate discrepancies and apply sound judgment to accounting and business questions.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to learn and apply new accounting processes, technologies and tools as business needs evolve.
• Ability to use technology, including AI-enabled tools, responsibly to improve productivity, analysis and accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure accurate general ledger accounting and month-end reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support complete and accurate financial results.
• Prepare monthly financial reports that help Finance and business leaders understand performance and make informed decisions.
• Analyze actual-to-budget results and communicate key variances to improve visibility into financial performance.
• Improve recurring accounting and reporting processes using AI, automation and technology to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
• Support financial planning and analysis through accurate financial data, reporting and ad hoc analysis.
• Maintain customer sales tax exemption information and supporting records to ensure accurate tax treatment.
• Manage assigned accounting responsibilities with appropriate independence while collaborating with the Corporate Accounting team.
