Job summary

Base Power Company in Austin, TX is seeking an Accounting Intern to gain hands-on experience across our core accounting functions. You will support month-end close, maintain books, and learn accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and reporting in a fast-growing startup.

You'll work closely with the accounting team, perform journal entries, and explore AI tools to speed tasks and automate reconciliations, helping develop our monthly reporting processes while ensuring numbers tie

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles (debits and credits, basic GAAP).
• Strong attention to detail and numbers that tie out.
• Comfort with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
• Interest in using AI and automation to speed up work.
• Keen to learn how a real accounting close runs end-to-end.
• Clear communication and asking good questions.
• NetSuite or other ERP experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Help reconcile bank accounts, credit card activity, and intercompany transactions.
• Use AI tools to streamline manual accounting tasks and automate reconciliations.
• Help develop and enhance monthly reporting processes for speed and reliability.
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
• Help prepare supporting schedules for audits and tax filings.
• Maintain organized, accurate documentation for accounting processes and controls.
• Assist with ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.
