Wholestone Farms is seeking an Accounting Intern at Fremont, NE to support accounts payable and receivable processing. You will handle invoices, apply receipts, and assist with daily financial transactions in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires current enrollment as a junior or senior in accounting or a related field, with strong attention to detail and basic computer skills. This is an internship in a work-ready setting with opportunities to learn budgeting and compliance tasks.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current college junior or senior.
  • Degree and major of study in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age 18 and ability to perform essential duties.

Responsibilities

  • Process outgoing payments in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Apply receipts and generate any necessary credit/debit memos.
  • Record and classify accounts payable/receivable data daily.
  • Reconcile AP/AR ledgers to ensure accuracy and posting.
  • Investigate discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and statements.
  • Support aging payable/receivable reporting and client communications.
  • Generate reports detailing AP/AR status as needed.
  • Understand expense accounts and cost centers.
  • Comply with AP-related regulatory requirements (W-9, sales tax, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

We are looking for skills in accounts payable and receivable to be responsible for processing all invoices and applying receipts in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.

Education, Licensure and Experience

Current college Junior or Senior

Degree and major of study in Accounting or equivalent required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • 1. Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • 2. Apply receipts and perform any credit or debit memos needed
  • 3. Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable and receivable data
  • 4. Reconcile the accounts payable and receivable ledger to ensure that all bills, payments and applied receipts are accounted for and properly posted.
  • 5. Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
  • 6. Facilitate aging payable and receivables contacting clients
  • 7. Generate reports detailing accounts payable and receivable status
  • 8. Understand expense accounts and cost centers
  • 9. Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
  • 10. Other duties as assigned.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the language of the majority cultural group in order to communicate effectively. Must be able to hear enough to understand those individuals as well. Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend documents such as graphs, financials, general professional articles and publications, governmental regulations, safety rules, assignment sheets, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures, and other administrative forms as outlined above.

Must be able to effectively communicate in both individual and group settings. Must be able to present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups.

Mathematical Skills

In order to perform duties, must be able to:

  • 1. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure such as whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and fractions.
  • 2. Compute rate, discounts, ratios, and percent, and
  • 3. Make, read and interpret financials, graphs, rates, ratios, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense and judgment in solving problems and interpreting and understanding instructions furnished in written or oral form. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action yet reason when to involve supervisor.

Computer Skills

Basic computer knowledge with the ability to learn software.

  • 1. Display strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • 2. Basic office skills such as phone skills, voice mail, copying, faxing, typing, and directing visitors.
  • 3. Ability to function independently given assigned duties.
