Job summary

Flowers Foods, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Accounting Generalist Intern to support the VP of Plant Finance across accounting cycles. You will learn to record journal entries, verify deposits, and balance intercompany accounts using BlackLine.

You will also analyze general ledger accounts, assist with quarterly schedules, and contribute to a summer project on AI-powered process automations that boost efficiency and data accuracy.

$20 - $25 an hour- based on projected academic level at time of internship

Location: Onsite-Phoenix, AZ

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

As an Accounting Generalist Intern, you will support the VP of Plant Finance in all phases of accounting. You will learn to prepare and enter journal entries for multiple entities, validate daily thrift store deposits and sales, prepare master GL recons, and balance intercompany accounts. Using BlackLine, you will reconcile period GL account recons and reconcile bank and GL balances for multiple entities.

The Accounting Generalist will analyze general ledger accounts and prepare associated quarterly schedules while assisting with the period and quarter-end accounting closing process. Your summer project will focus on developing AI-powered process automations that improve efficiency and optimize workflows. This role will allow personal and professional growth through meaningful projects that encourage the use of current and developing skills.

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications

• Completed all accounting or finance pre-requisite and introductory level courses
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical, data-processing, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources
• Strong team collaboration skills

Salary Range- $20 - $25 an hour
