Job summary

Flowers Foods, Inc. in Montgomery, AL, is seeking a Quality and Food Safety Intern to assist in basic food safety and quality assurance tasks onsite. You will practice HACCP, FSMA concepts, and conduct quality checks while supporting the QA team.

Bringing Home the Dough

$20 - $25 an hour- based on projected academic level at time of internship

Location: Onsite-Montgomery, AL

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

As a Quality and Food Safety Intern, you will support the Quality and Food Safety Manager through practicing the basic principles of food safety and quality assurance. You will practice food defense, HACCP, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), environmental monitoring, handwashing techniques, allergens, and foreign material contamination. You will also perform quality checks (measurements, sensory evaluation on products), sifter tailing checks, pH and TTA checks, and conduct weekly thermometer calibration.

The Quality and Food Safety Intern will obtain a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Certification, conduct weekly food safety inspections, analyze and report customer complaints, and evaluate weekly shelf-life studies. You will practice customer audit preps, regulatory inspection preps, and observe and create standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role will allow personal and professional growth through meaningful projects that encourage the use of current and developing skills.

Salary Range- $20 - $25 an hour
