Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences is seeking an Accounting Financial Associate to support departmental financial records, journal entries, and internal controls. This hybrid role requires 3+ years of accounting experience, an associate degree, strong Excel skills, and proficiency with Oracle Financials; you will work with university policies and annual audits.

The position offers a 35-hour work week with one on-campus day and comprehensive benefits; opportunities are coordinated

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Excel and standard office tools.
• 3+ years’ related accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex accounting activities including translating business needs from local departments to journal entries.
• Provide technical advice and problem resolution for a department on varied accounting issues.
• Prepare and analyze journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures in accordance with GAAP standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams on financial audits, internal controls, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure financial compliance with University policies and procedures, audit and accounting disclosure requirements, and applicable legal rules and regulations.
