Job summary

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) is seeking an experienced Accounting Director to lead and evolve key financial functions in a hybrid setting. This senior role oversees general accounting operations, compliance, audits, payroll accounting, and internal controls in line with U.S.

GAAP. The position supports modernization through automation and AI tools while guiding teams to deliver timely, accurate financial information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 7–9 years of progressive accounting experience, including both public accounting and industry.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and COSO internal control framework.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Oracle Financials).
  • Experience with payroll processes, tax compliance, and financial analytics.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation tools, automation, and AI-driven financial technologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Direct accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, and statutory reporting.
  • Lead fiscal close processes and improve month-end timelines and accuracy.
  • Ensure internal controls and tax compliance with accounting standards.
  • Mentor accounting teams and drive high performance.

Accounting Director (2026-91)

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) is seeking an experienced and strategicAccounting Director to lead and evolve key financial functions. This role oversees general accounting operations, compliance, audits, payroll accounting, and internal controls in accordance with U.S. GAAP. As a senior member of the Finance team, the Accounting Director will support modernization and efficiency efforts through the adoption of automation and AI tools, while leading teams in delivering timely, accurate financial information and upholding fiscal integrity.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Directing accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, and statutory reporting.
  • Leading fiscal close processes and enhancing month-end close timelines and accuracy.
  • Administering internal controls and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Supervising and mentoring accounting teams to promote high performance and professional development.
  • Overseeing external and internal audit processes and managing related documentation.
  • Driving continuous improvement and digital transformation efforts in accounting processes and systems.
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, financial analytics, and executive reporting.
  • Partnering cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and IT to integrate systems and streamline workflows.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement; candidates must reside at a U.S. location within 125 miles of their assigned office location. Compensation will be determined based on geographic location. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive.

Compensation

New York City, NY - $125,000 - $132,500

Philadelphia, PA| Chicago, IL| Voorhees, NJ - $112,500 - $119,400

Johnston, RI| Houston, TX - $107,500 - $114,200
