Job summary

Whataburger is seeking an Accounting Data Analyst for its San Antonio Home Office to transform financial data into actionable insights. You will support third-party delivery and franchise operations, building SQL queries, performing analyses, and delivering reports to leaders to drive financial performance.

The role requires 2+ years in finance/accounting, advanced Excel, and SQL skills, with on-site work Monday–Thursday and remote Fridays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2+ years of financial analysis, accounting or related experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, pivots, data validation).
• Experience developing SQL queries to extract and analyze data.
• Ability to research and analyze discrepancies via transactional data.
• Experience with variance, trend, and performance analysis.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and data tools.
• Understanding of journal entries and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop SQL queries to analyze financial and operational data.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis.
• Prepare financial analysis and materials for leadership review.
• Support accounting processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
• Support timely and accurate period- and year-end close processes.
• Maintain accurate, consistent financial data and reporting.
