Job summary

The successful candidate will support budgeting, accounting reconciliations, and collaboration with auditors, while maintaining strong customer service and communication with university departments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of university policies, procedures and regulations and ability to communicate that knowledge to the university community.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Positive attitude and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner Student and Finance System is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other departments to verify budgets, approvals, and account numbers.
• Classify and code transactions with substantial knowledge.
• Review accounts, ledgers, invoices, purchase orders, and receipts for accuracy and compliance.
• Examine records to ensure adherence to laws and regulations.
• Verify calculations and validity of transactions.
• Perform periodic process reviews and propose improvements.
• Prepare statements and reports requiring analysis.
• Post, encumber funds, and balance receipts.
• Communicate with auditors and state agencies as needed.
• Research complex accounting issues and respond to inquiries.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations and participate in bank reconciliations rotation.
• Assist department/administrators with accounting questions.
• Review invoices weekly for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform other duties to support the Controller's Office.
