Blue Shield of California is seeking an Accountant Consultant to lead day‑to‑day accounting and reporting, translating priorities into action. The role partners with the Accounting Manager to manage deliverables, resolve complex technical matters, and guide the team with oversight and judgment.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in accounting/public accounting, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Requires at least 8 years of experience in accounting or public accounting.
• Requires comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP and ability to apply judgment.
• Ability to research and apply accounting standards and document conclusions clearly.
• Ability to prepare financial statements and audited disclosures with accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and reporting activities.
• Resolve complex technical accounting matters and provide guidance to the team.
• Partner with Accounting Manager to manage priorities and deliverables.
• Support close, reporting, audits, and accounting policy activities.
• Coach team members and drive continuous improvement in the accounting function.
