Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft in Duluth, MN is seeking an Accounting Intern to support the accounting team with journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close activities. You will gain hands‑on experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement within a manufacturing setting.

You will collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other departments, building skills in Excel, financial systems, and data analysis while learning how financial data drives operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Active Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Willing and able to enroll in a Co‑Op or internship credit course and fulfill requirements for academic credit.
• Ability to provide school documentation required for participation in a Co‑Op Program.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation.
• Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintain prepaid expenses and accrual schedules.
• Support financial reporting and audit requests.
• Perform accounting research and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
• Assist with documentation of business processes and internal controls.
• Compile, organize, and reconcile financial data from various systems.
• Support cost accounting, inventory, fixed asset, lease accounting, warranty, deferred revenue, or other special projects as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process documentation.
• Collaborate with team members across Finance, Operations, and other departments.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Overview

The Accounting Intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting the accounting team in day‑to‑day financial operations, month‑end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives. This position offers exposure to a variety of accounting functions within a manufacturing environment while providing practical experience in financial systems, internal controls, and business processes. The intern will work closely with accounting professionals and cross‑functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and operational excellence.

• Must be able to complete entire duration of internship.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Willing and able to enroll in a Co‑Op or internship credit course and fulfill all requirements to receive academic credit and or degree progress
• Ability to provide any school documentation required for participation in a Co‑Op Program
