An established industry player is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to manage financial processes for various hospitality services. Position Summary
This role is responsible for reviewing accounting processes related to multiple Residence Hospitality Services (RHS) units. The information generated will be used to maintain accurate accounting records, support departmental daily operations, ensure compliance with the MSU Manual of Business Procedures and RHS Policy manual, and include appropriate supporting documentation in the edoc system. Responsibilities include processing accounts receivable, reviewing daily sales and deposits in EBS and POS systems, maintaining deposit logs, processing IDTs and travel expenses, creating purchase orders and disbursement vouchers, supervising students, preparing invoices, transferring funds, submitting invoices for payment, and creating purchase orders with divisional requests for RHS.
The role also involves preparing financial reports for departmental review, maintaining sub-system reports for month-end reconciliation, processing credit card payments, providing backup support for BFS staff, hiring and supervising student employees, maintaining payroll records, and managing departmental accounting functions such as fund transfers, expenditures, and accounts receivable. The position requires interaction with university personnel, students, external agencies, and the public to verify information and ensure records are accurate. Additional duties include approving expenditures, assessing service eligibility, maintaining individual and cumulative records, and making daily deposits. The role involves evaluating data from various sources to update the department’s accounting database for efficient information retrieval, overseeing cash receipt processing, supervising student employees, and performing duties typical of an Accounting Clerk II.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with both on-site and remote work opportunities.
All RHS positions are designated as critical status. In the event of university closures or operational suspensions due to emergencies, employees are expected to report to work as scheduled. Minimum Requirements
Knowledge typically acquired through a high school education, along with one to three years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, bookkeeping, records maintenance, or related software such as spreadsheets, word processing, and databases. The role requires familiarity with technical accounting terminology or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
A thorough understanding of MSU financial, payroll, travel, and purchasing policies; experience with the EBS system (HR/Payroll/Finance/Business Intelligence); skills in account reconciliation, financial document preparation, payroll processing, financial reporting, purchasing requisitions, professional services contracts, PCard management, MSU travel policies, and processing personnel and payroll forms for student employees. Proficiency with SIS, StarRez, Microsoft Suite, CashNet, Opera/Maestro, Simphony, Sequoia, Kinetic, Transact, B4 Check In, or similar accounts receivable software. Familiarity with Point-of-Sale systems.
