Lowndes, a full-service Florida law firm, seeks an Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team in Orlando. The role focuses on processing client payments and trust account transactions with accuracy and timeliness.

The position offers cross-training in AR, AP, and other law-firm accounting areas. Applicants with 1-3 years of experience are encouraged to apply, with law-firm experience strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process and accurately apply client payments received by check, ACH, wire transfer, credit card, and other payment methods.
• Record and maintain accurate transactions involving client trust accounts, including trust receipts and disbursements.
• Process deposits and reconcile cash receipts, electronic payments, and credit card activity to supporting documentation and accounting records.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, including partial payments, split payments, retainers, overpayments, and other exceptions.
• Work with attorneys, billing specialists, and accounting team members to resolve payment and client account questions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow established accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Cross-train in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and provide support in these areas as needed.
• Participate in accounting process improvements and develop broader knowledge of law firm financial operations.
