The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, assisting with monthly closing processes, and maintaining strong vendor and client accounts. If you're proactive, able to handle multiple tasks, and have a strong accounting background, we encourage you to apply. This is an on-site role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record and track all income, including various financial transactions.
  • Process accounts payable (A/P) in accounting software and SmartAdvocate if client related including client-related payments.
  • Prepare and issue financial documents, including settlement letters and checks.
  • Oversee vendor accounts, including contract management and payment processing.
  • Regularly review and reconcile the general ledger for accuracy.
  • Manage the opening and closing of accounting periods on a monthly basis.
  • Support the team with other ad-hoc accounting and financial tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of full-time experience in an office environment, preferably in an accounting role. At least two years of law firm bookkeeping experience is required
  • Experience at a contingency fee-based firm, including with the bookkeeping-related aspects of recoverable and non-recoverable disbursements and escrow accounts, is preferred.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Excel, with a solid understanding of its functions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting software and bookkeeping principles.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and the ability to apply accounting concepts.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • A professional and approachable demeanor, reflecting a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient with QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks Online, Excel, Outlook 365 and Adobe.
