Job summary

Step One Automotive is seeking an Accounting Associate at our Fort Walton Beach headquarters. This role records, posts, and verifies accounting data for dealership transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy and regulations.

The ideal candidate has automotive accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree (or higher), and at least three years of relevant work. Proficiency with Excel and dealer management systems is a plus, and ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Automotive accounting experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
• Three or more years' experience preferred.
• Must pass a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Report.

Responsibilities

• Use automotive accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
• Post New, Used and Fleet vehicle deals.
• Verify figures, postings, and documents for correct entry and accuracy.
• Complies with federal and state regulations and company policies.
• Performs general office duties and handles routine correspondence.
• Reconcile accounting schedules and communicate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with sales and finance to verify deal paperwork.
• Review and process vehicle documents per policies.
• Interact with dealership associates and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Accounting Associates perform combinations of calculating, posting, and verifying data to ensure complete and accurate accounting records. They may also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by others. Duties/Responsibilities

• Use of automotive accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
• Post New, Used and Fleet vehicle deals
• Verify figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding.
• Complies with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Performs general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
• Reconcile accounting schedules in accordance with company policies and communicate discrepancies found.
• Collaborate with sales and finance departments to verify all deal paperwork.
• Reviews, records, and processes vehicle documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Interacts with dealership associates and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including Excel, as well as general accounting software. Dealertrack DMS experience is a plus.
• Must have the ability to sit for long hours while working from a desktop computer, accounting calculator, accounting software, ledgers, financial statements, and more.
• Must have ample dexterity to bend, reach, stretch, sit, stand, type, and lift to 30 pounds.

Education and Experience

• Automotive accounting experience preferred.
