Job summary

The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to join its Management Company Accounting team within Financial Operations.

You will own recurring close, reporting, and regulatory processes for the firm's U.S. and international entities, and help modernize functions with generative AI. This role requires at least two years of accounting experience and a CPA, with a focus on accuracy, collaboration, and discretion.

Qualifications

• At least two years of accounting experience, ideally within alternative asset management, financial services, or public accounting.
• Solid understanding of core accounting concepts and the recurring close and reporting cycle.
• A forward-looking mindset toward generative AI and automation, with genuine interest in applying new tools to everyday work.
• Keen analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Demonstrated initiative, eagerness to learn, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Manage recurring monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reporting for the team and firm leadership, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements and related filings.
• Contribute to the design and adoption of generative AI and automation tools to make close, reporting, and regulatory workflows more efficient and reliable.
• Partner with colleagues across FinOp and Legal & Compliance to research questions, address reporting needs, and improve processes.
