The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Performs accounting and bookkeeping activities for a major college or division of the University. Maintains a variety of books of account. Performs related activities such as computation of breakdowns, audits, trouble-shooting, charting and graphing. Processes journal entries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs review of critical data. Assists with due diligence and administrative-related activities. Applies generally accepted accounting principles, tax compliance regulations, and University policies and procedures to a variety of situations and effectively communicates the information in an easily understood manner. Establishes priorities appropriately. Monitors workflows and work queue diligently so any rejects or problems can be resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service to faculty, staff, students, and external customers. Works to ensure customers’ needs and expectations are addressed appropriately. Exercises sound judgment and creativity. Conveys accurate information in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
  • Attempts to resolve problems before bringing them to supervisor or offers viable solutions. Assists manager in accounting procedures and takes initiative to understand full budget process. Initiates and/or leads projects and develops ideas. Performs quality control checks, verifying processes, including monitoring and reviewing daily reports, collecting missing information, and adjusting as appropriate. Tracks and maintains reconciliation for year-end reporting, identifying inconsistencies in data for explanation or correction. Extracts data from systems to identify non-compliant and other problematic transactions. Prioritizes investigation and follow up activities as appropriate, following University policies and risk assessment.
  • Coordinates and prepares periodic financial reports for various government, University, and external customers.
  • Provide coverage for other team members as needed. Shares information and offers assistance across department as appropriate. Identifies resources for further research and information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma and 2 years of related work experience required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required
  • Superior organization skills required
