BerryDunn is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Outsourced Accounting Services Practice Group (OASPG) in Portland, ME. This full-time role supports multiple clients and focuses on accuracy, confidentiality, and professional conduct in a team environment.

The position offers a straightforward workload with limited travel (under 10% annually) and opportunities to grow in accounting software and financial reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or working on a bachelor’s degree.
• Working knowledge of the general ledger, basic financial statements and adjusting entries.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Process payables for multiple clients and produce payable reports.
• Process/maintain receivables for multiple clients and deposits.
• Record bank and credit card activity in accounting software.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances.
• Produce basic workpapers, financials and trial balances.
• Assist with 1099 preparation and maintaining vendor records.
• Correspond with vendors/clients regarding payment status, open invoices, etc.
• Maintain electronic vendor files and ensure W-9 compliance.
