Job summary

Sunrise Senior Living is seeking an Accounting Assistant to handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll support within Finance Operations in Silver Spring, MD. The role supports resident billing, reconciliations, month-end close, and regulatory-compliant file maintenance.

The position requires an associate degree in accounting or related field and 2+ years of accounting experience, with strong Excel and accounting systems skills and excellent communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience in senior living or healthcare is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and accounting systems.
• Clear communication and sound problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Support resident billing, collections, and Medicare/Medicaid coordination as applicable.
• Review invoices for proper approvals and coding.
• Assist with monthly close, accruals, and journal entries.
• Reconcile resident deposits, petty cash, and bank accounts.
• Maintain resident financial files in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and monthly P&L accuracy.
• Help monitor key internal controls and census reporting.
