Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Raleigh, NC Project Accounting team. This full-time role supports the full project lifecycle, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, data entry, and contract review in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, 1+ years in accounting, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and strong communication skills. Deltek CostPoint experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Support Project Accountants with business-related tasks for internal and external client requests.
  • Prepare and send monthly invoices with necessary backup and details.
  • Monitor and follow-up on unpaid invoices to collect accounts receivable balances.
  • Assist with accounts payable, overhead invoices, check requests, and vendor inquiries.
  • Data entry into accounting systems and review of client contracts for project setup.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our growing regional Project Accounting team in our Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office! This is not a remote position.


Responsibilities

The ideal candidate would be able to work in a fast-paced collaborative team setting and communicate effectively to achieve group goals. This individual would work closely with accounting team members to support full project lifecycle business functions.



  • Support Project Accountants with business-related tasks for both internal and external client requests

  • Prepare and send monthly invoices that may require expense backup, timesheet detail, pay applications, or other client-specific invoicing requirements

  • Partner with Project Accountants to monitor and follow-up on unpaid invoices to collect accounts receivable balances

  • Work closely with accounting team members to support full project lifecycle business functions

  • Monitor and collect accounts receivable by working directly with clients

  • Evaluate incoming payments to ensure proper cash application

  • Process accounts payable, overhead invoices, check requests, and respond to vendor inquiries

  • Cash receipt backup

  • Data entry directly into internal and external accounting systems

  • Review client contracts to ensure accurate project setup

  • Electronic contract and document management

  • Assist with other general accounting support functions as required
