Job summary

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) seeks a General Ledger Fiscal Data Specialist to compile, review, and analyze high‑complexity fiscal activities and ensure data integrity within FI$Cal.

Reporting to the Accounting Administrator II, this permanent full‑time role focuses on MEC and Year End tasks, providing guidance to accounting staff and supporting month‑end close processes from a central State Government framework.

Job Description And Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by serving as the Accounting Administrator I (Specialist) to compile, review, and analyze large volume of fiscal activities of high complexity to maintain the integrity of fiscal data. The incumbent performs the more difficult professional accounting duties that require a complete understanding of State Government Accounting process; and provides technical support and guidance to accounting staff in the solution of Month-End Close (MEC) outstanding items and Year End tasks in the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) which include the review and analysis of complex reports and queries.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator II (Supervisor), State Unit.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
