Under the direction of the Administrator I, Supervisor, the incumbent functions as a specialist in the application of the California Prison Industry Authority's (CALPIA) most complex financial reporting requirements and serves as a lead person to the Reports and Reconciliation (RR) staff.

  • ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATOR I (SPECIALIST)

The California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) is a self-supporting state agency that provides productive work opportunities and job skills to incarcerated individuals to reduce recidivism and increase public and prison safety.

In the event of a medical state of emergency CALPIA will follow Public Health Orders issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and issue departmental directives which may include guidance from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and California Correctional Healthcare Services.

Upon a conditional job offer, the selected candidate will be required to clear live scan, a tuberculosis (TB) test, and physical (if applicable).

This position is subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing pursuant to 2 CCR § 599.960.

Employment information on the STD 678 MUST be complete with hours worked, dates, duties and responsibilities, and contact names and phone numbers of supervisors. Failure to submit a completed STD 678 may result in you being screened out. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Financial accounting work experience with the State/Government
  • Training or team lead work experience
  • Financial Audit and Year-End experience
  • Degree with emphasis in Accounting or Fiscal
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing financial reports
  • Experience in creating State Fiscal Year-End financial statements (Budgetary/Legal Basis & GAAP)
  • Experience delivering training content, facilitating meetings, or presenting information
  • Experience developing and updating desk procedures, ISOs, and various types of learning materials
