Job summary

Real Estate Company in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accountant to own the accounting cycle for multiple entities and work closely with management and outside CPAs. You will handle AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, monthly statements, budgets, and cash flow, while upholding GAAP and internal controls, and you will contribute insights for strategic decisions.

• 3–5+ years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping or accounting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple entities.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Yardi, AppFolio, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and team members.
• Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
• A problem-solver who takes initiative and doesn't wait to be asked to address an issue.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close
• Prepare and process payroll, including quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
• Complete accurate and timely bank and account reconciliations
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Assist with budgets, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Work closely with management and external CPAs on audits, tax filings, and financial planning
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and best practices
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and internal controls
