Job summary

JERA Global Markets is seeking a detail-oriented accountant to support the US Gas business as it builds out its North American trading platform. You will manage timely month-end closings, financial reporting, and compliance with internal policies.

The role requires a bachelor’s in accounting or equivalent, 7 years of relevant experience (5+ in commodity trading or Big 4 audit), and strong mark-to-market knowledge. SAP or related systems experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA) or equivalent.
  • 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years in a commodity trading company or Big 4 audit related to commodity trading is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mark-to-market accounting in commodity trading.
  • Positive, conscientious, hands-on and self-driven; works well under time pressure.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and be detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse teams.
  • Experience with SAP or Sun/Horizon systems is a plus.
  • System savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel.

  • Perform reconciliation of accounting to trading systems to ensure ledger accuracy.

  • Assist Group Finance Controller with ad-hoc duties and cross-department collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PositionDescription :

This role forms part of JERA's growing North American Gas Trading business, which is expected to transition onto JERAGM's trading platform. This business is wholly owned by JERA Co., Inc. and will focus on US natural gas trading,optimisationand market development across North America. Successful candidates will join during the build-out phase ahead of the business's planned operational launch.

We areseekinga detail-oriented and proactive accountant tosupportingthe financial operations of our US Gas business. The primary focus of this role is to ensuretimelyandaccuratemonth-end closing, financialreportingand compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Maintain the financial books and recordsin accordance withfinancial reporting standards and statutory requirement, including assessing the impact of changes in accounting standards and ensuringappropriate accountingtreatment of the Group's business activities.
  • Perform and monthly closing process to ensureaccurateandtimelygroup and statutory reporting
  • Perform reconciliation of accounting to trading systems to ensure the accuracy of accounting ledger
  • Prepare the monthly/quarterly financial reporting packages, and annual financial statementsin accordance withthe financial reporting standards
  • Support audit and review process by external auditors and the internal control/audit team
  • Support Group Finance Controller/Financial Controller on ad-hoc duties as assigned
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve the overall JERAGM's goals andobjectives
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading and accounting standards and other compliance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional qualification (e.g.CPA, ACCA,CAor its equivalents)
  • 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years in a commodity trading company and/or in Big 4 accounting firm with a focus on the audit of commodity trading firm is desired
  • Strong technical understanding of mark-to-market accounting in the commodity trading business is preferred.
  • Positive, conscientious, hands-on, and self-driven. Enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong logical thinking and analytical skills with attention to details and accuracy
  • Collaborative teamteamplayer and thrives on excellence and continuous improvement
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under time pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and able to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and various levels within the organization
  • Experience with SAP or Sun/Horizon systems is a plus.
