Reporting to and collaborating with the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting, the position involves performing general and advanced accounting duties within the USNH Financial Operations Center.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform advanced accounting functions including ledger maintenance, financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and inventory control.
- Analyze complex financial data and prepare management reports, financial statements, and other accounting functions.
- Monitor revenue and expenses, ensuring expenditure control and compliance with policies and funding requirements.
- Coordinate the preparation of billings, cost reports, analyses, inventories, and financial statements for various funding sources.
- Work with Finance Divisions to prepare journal vouchers and make necessary corrections or adjustments.
- Oversee financial data reports, participate in reconciliation, and maintain accounting records.
- Assist in maintaining the system-wide chart of accounts.
- Prepare budget, revenue, and expense corrections, and perform bank reconciliations.
- Monitor data processing batches, identify discrepancies, and resolve complex issues.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal fiscal systems and procedures.
- Coordinate with auditors and participate in audit activities.
- Adhere to USNH systems, policies, and procedures related to accounting.
- Advise and interpret financial policies to faculty, staff, vendors, and funding sources, including providing training.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience: Associate’s degree and 2 years’ experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control.
- Ability to use technology platforms and navigate automated financial systems.
- Knowledge of audit practices and financial reporting.
- Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret financial data and statements accurately.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Additional credentials like CPA.
- Experience in shared service settings or with tax-exempt organizations.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Banner systems.
