The role is primarily remote, with responsibilities spanning month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis across multiple units.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience in multi-unit restaurant settings, proficiency with Sage Intacct and AP automation, and strong Excel and cost accounting

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years in multi-unit restaurant/franchise operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and AP automation like onePAY.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Familiarity with restaurant POS integrations and third-party delivery accounting.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle month-end close for multiple QSR locations from a remote setting.
• Prepare consolidated and unit-level financial statements, P&L, and variance analyses.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-driven, experienced Multi-Unit QSR Accountant to oversee the financial operations and reporting for our growing portfolio of quick-service restaurant locations.

Operating in a primarily remote environment, you will manage daily accounting functions, perform multi-unit financial analysis, ensure internal controls, and support operational leadership in driving profitability. The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with QSR-specific financials, high-volume inventory management, and automated accounts payable workflows using modern cloud-based ERP and AP platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Manage the full-cycle month-end close process for multiple QSR restaurant locations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP from a remote work setting.


• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, profit & loss (P&L) statements, and variance analyses for individual units and consolidated portfolios.


• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank statements, credit card processing accounts, and third-party delivery platforms (e.g., DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub).

QSR Operations & Cost Accounting

• Monitor and analyze prime costs (Food, Beverage, and Labor) across all locations to identify variances, waste, and margin improvement opportunities.


• Review weekly food and paper inventory counts, ensuring proper valuation, usage tracking, and integration with point-of-sale (POS) systems.


• Audit and reconcile labor management and payroll data against sales volume and scheduling targets.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management

• Oversee high-volume accounts payable (AP) automation workflows utilizing onePAY, managing digital invoice intake, custom approval routing, and seamless bi-directional syncing with the general ledger.


• Ensure timely processing of vendor invoices, utility bills, food\/beverage distributors, and landlord lease payments.


• Monitor daily cash sales, petty cash, safe audits, and cash-over/short logs for each restaurant location.

Compliance, Budgeting & Auditing

• Assist in preparing annual operating budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for each store and the broader brand.


• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, sales tax filings, business licenses, and government reporting.


• Act as a liaison for external auditors, tax preparers, and payroll service providers.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years specifically within multi-unit restaurant, franchise, or retail operations (QSR experience strongly preferred). Proven ability to work successfully in a remote or distributed team environment.


• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• Technical Proficiency:


• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct preferred, including tracking multi-entity financials and dim-coding by cost center.


• Familiarity with AP automation software such as onePAY for invoice capture, digital workflow approvals, and vendor management.


• Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, financial modeling).


• Familiarity with restaurant POS integrations (e.g., Toast, Aloha, Square, Restaurant365).


• Reliable high-speed internet and a secure home office setup.


• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of restaurant metrics (COGS, Prime Cost, Labor Percentage, Food Cost Variances) and third-party delivery platform accounting.


• Soft Skills: Self-motivated, exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills for collaborating across remote teams.
