Job summary

OneMain Financial in Irving, TX, is seeking a Lead Accountant to drive the monthly close, consolidation, and intercompany reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented problem solver who can partner with multiple teams to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial statements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Lead Accountant - Financial Close & Consolidation

This position requires a flexible professional who can drive change, identify, and resolve issues, is a problem solver and is able to work with multiple stakeholders. This position will be responsible for preparation and review of the monthly balance sheet and income statement and monitor the accounts for inter-company reporting, consolidations, and selected account reconciliations. The Accounting Lead provides support for month-end close, audit, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and financial reporting. He/she must be detail oriented, have advanced problem-solving skills, solid verbal and written communication, and excellent relationship building skills, as well as strong leadership and team management skills

In the Role
  • Preparation and review of the monthly balance sheet and income statement in accordance with GAAP.
  • Monitor and review the monthly consolidation process and balancing of intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Audit support, internal and external audits including organizing, coordinating, and ensuring timely receipt of information requests in support of the audit.
  • SOX support and compliance, ensuring assisting with maintaining adequate segregation of duties, documentation, and controls over financial reporting for assigned responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with IT on various system issues and or enhancements.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and principles.
  • Detailed research and analysis as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in financial services or related field preferred
  • Excellent technical research, writing, and communication skills
  • Proficient in use of Excel and Word
  • Ability to think, and work, independently resolving challenging issues
Preferred:
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
  • Public Accounting experience with a national or large regional firm a plus
  • MBA or master’s degree in accounting a plus
  • Oracle General Ledger and OneStream Financial Reporting experience is a plus
  • Consolidation knowledge is a plus
