Position Summary
Vali Incorporated is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will assist with DoD Accounting.
Essential Responsibilities
As a member of a team and under the supervision of an Advanced Analyst, perform the following accounting tasks:
- Apply federal accounting principles as defined by the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) for financial transactions, reports, and audits.
- Exercise strong knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and the DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR).
- Compile, analyze, and review financial statements to reconcile data, identify discrepancies, and support audits.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to day‑to‑day execution and other duties.
- Use advanced data analysis and spreadsheet skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, for budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and handling large datasets.
Education & Experience Requirements
- BA/BS in accounting or business with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the accounting field.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel and the MS Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance upon hire.
Desired Experience Requirements
- Familiarity with DoD financial management and budgeting systems such as Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI), Mechanization of Contract Administration Services (MOCAS), and Wide Area Workflow (WAWF).
- Knowledge of audit processes and protocols when working with external audit firms.
- Experience with DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System (PPBES) methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision‑making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
- Self‑starter ability to simultaneously support multiple complex accounting projects.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office; demonstrated experience in Excel with advanced functions and pivot tables.
