Description of Duties

Successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running, performing accounting functions and will be trained in contracts administration. BCI is unique in that our contracts administrators perform cradle‑to‑grave contracting and are not specialized. This team also currently performs some accounting functions. BCI's contracts team, and therefore the successful applicant, must be responsive and flexible, willing to work with customers (government and industry) and contracts that are varied in requirements. This position will prepare proposals or bids, review contract terms and conditions and execute those required to be within compliance, generate technical and financial monthly reports as well as any other ad‑hoc reports requested, budget and forecast the project funding to the tasking and labor, track expenses, interface with technical leads on the execution of the contract, and prepare accurate invoices in accordance with contract specific directions. Additionally, understanding what is reasonable, allowable, and allocable in the FAR will be expected. This position is suited well for individuals who can multi‑task, prioritize, work independently on assignments to meet deadlines, analyze data for reasonableness, and work for multiple managers. Attention to detail, understanding the bigger picture of how contracts administration duties fit within the scope of the technical efforts, and being able to apply what is learned across a variety of contracts with different requirements are crucial to success. Successful candidate must be an experienced customer service–oriented person and someone with business math, problem‑solving skills to identify and solve financial problems.

Experience Required

Minimum 3 years' experience in Government Contracting (GovCon) Accounting (i.e. Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, payroll functions, generally accepted accounting procedures, working knowledge of the FAR). Experience may have been gained as an accountant, project analyst, project control, budget financial analyst, purchaser/buyer, contracts specialist or administrator, or acquisition analyst. Preference will be given to applicants with at least entry‑level, hands‑on experience in DoD contracting for Fixed Price and Cost‑type contracts and understanding contractual documents. Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field is required (preference is a degree in accounting), and candidates with CPA credentials are encouraged to apply. Experience with Jamis accounting system is a plus. Advanced Microsoft Excel experience and intermediate experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required.
