Job summary

City of Leesburg seeks an accounting professional responsible for general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role supports budget preparation, reconciles accounts, and assists with annual CAFR preparation.

The position requires an associate degree in accounting and at least two years of accounting experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in accounting; comparable education/experience may be substituted.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; may substitute for additional work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting functions in accordance with applicable laws and requirements.
• Reconciles all funds and accounts; researches discrepancies and reports findings.
• Posts payments, journal and ledger entries as assigned.
• Monitors financial systems for efficiency and accuracy; may conduct physical inventories.
• Prepares financial reports such as grants, capital project schedules, CAFR support; assists with audits.
• Assists with budget preparation including revenue projections.
