Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Brenham seeks an Accountant II to manage routine accounts payable and complex voucher processing. You will audit documents, verify coding, and ensure timely transactions, partnering with CAPPS, USAS, and budget teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures for maintaining records.
• Ability to use automated accounting systems effectively.
• Ability to audit and review work and apply accounting theory to practice.
• Ability to ensure data integrity in accounting processes.
• Strong written and oral communication with internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Handle routine accounts payable tasks and complex vouchers for payments.
• Audit source documents to ensure validity and proper coding.
• Direct agency staff to ensure accurate AP transactions and funding coding.
• Analyze vendor data and expenditures, resolve errors promptly.
• Coordinate with CAPPS, USAS, and Budget staff for accurate processing.
• Provide backup coverage and participate in special agency projects.
