This position is in the Federal Financial Reporting Branch of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Controller at 1915 Health Services Way. This position serves as the grant accountant within the DHHS Office of Controller for the Division of Health Benefits, with primary responsibility for all federal grant accounting activities. Extensive federal grant responsibilities include drawing Federal funds, Federal expenditure reposting, various grant analyses and reconciliations. The expenditure reports are required by the Federal government and must be completed in order to continue to receive funding and avoid penalties. The accounting for and reporting of the federal grants are completed in accordance with the Office of State Controller (OSC), Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and other federal regulatory agencies. Other responsibilities include assisting with the year-end Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Assistance (SEFA). This position must interpret and implement Federal regulations. This position will have heavy integration with other sections of the Office of the Controller, Division Budget Officers, and with representatives of Federal Governmental Agencies.
Salary Grade Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036.00

Strong analytical Skills and excellent communication skills are required.
Candidates should be self-starter and capable of performing job requirements with minimal supervision.
Extensive knowledge of Excel and Word is required.
NCFS experience preferred.
The Office of the Controller sets and interprets all accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures for the Department as authorized by the rules and regulations of the Office of the State Controller and state statutes and executes all accounting transactions for DHHS.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and two years of professional accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting. financial statements and reports; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
