Job summary

Northfield Savings Bank in Vermont is seeking an Accountant II to perform complex accounting activities including accounts payable, reconciliations, analysis, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

This role will serve as a resource to the team, may provide guidance to entry-level staff, take ownership of assigned accounting processes, and support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• An associate's degree or two years of related experience.
• Previous experience working in a financial institution preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key resource for accounting operations, providing subject matter expertise, ensuring continuity, and helping train employees on accounting processes and procedures
• Manage key accounting processes and balance sheet accounts, including reconciliations, prepaid expenses, bank-owned fixed assets, check adjustments, instant payments, and related records
• Support the integrity of the Bank’s financial and operational control environment by applying sound accounting principles, maintaining internal controls, participating in operational audits, and identifying opportunities to improve processes
• Administer domestic and international wire transfers while serving as a resource and trainer for employees involved in wire processes
• Maintain and improve accounting procedures to promote operational efficiency, compliance, consistency, and alignment with evolving business needs

Northfield Savings Bank is seeking an Accountant II to join our team. This role will perform complex accounting activities including accounts payable, reconciliations, analysis, and problem resolution, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and established accounting standards.

This person will serve as a resource to the team and may provide guidance to entry-level staff. This position takes ownership of assigned accounting processes, contributes to process improvements, and supports the successful achievement of departmental and organizational goals.

Compensation

Base compensation range at hire (dependent on experience): $23.50-26.50 per hour
