Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience required; energy industry preferred.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 preferred.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely and accurate monthly journal entries related to transportation, storage, and other revenue activities.
• Analyze transportation and storage contracts to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606.
• Prepare assigned quarterly and annual FERC reporting accurately and on schedule.
• Review and analyze billed volumes (throughput), revenue activity, and related accounting records.
• Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations using BlackLine.
• Analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial results and assist in explaining income statement variances.
• Support internal and external audit requests through the preparation of analyses and supporting documentation.
• Participate in monthly close meetings with management and present financial results and accounting matters as needed.
• Assist with system enhancements, testing initiatives, and other special projects.
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
• Maintain and update accounting procedures, process documentation, and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with all GAAP and SOX requirements as well as established accounting policies and procedures.
• Respond promptly and professionally to requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and consistently deliver high-quality work.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a motivated accounting professional to join our Regulated Interstate Accounting team. This position supports accounting and reporting activities for several regulated interstate pipeline assets, including reviewing customer contracts, analyzing billed volumes and revenue activity, preparing journal entries, supporting regulatory reporting, and performing financial analyses.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop expertise in pipeline revenue accounting while working closely with a variety of business and accounting groups. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn. This role offers meaningful cross-functional interaction with Planning, Transportation Services, Account Services, Regulatory, Measurement, Corporate Accounting, Commercial, and other business groups.

What You Will Do

What You Need

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience required; natural gas pipeline or energy industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
• Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate complex issues.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting capabilities, along with proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with Lawson financial systems, BlackLine, or other financial reporting and reconciliation tools is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of pipeline operational systems is a plus. Experience with DART preferred.
• Periodic overtime may be required.
