Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield is seeking an Accountant I to support day-to-day accounting, budgeting and financial reporting for the Student Affairs and University Advancement divisions. The role requires applying GAAP, FASB, and GASB principles while completing journal entries, reconciliations and ad hoc analyses.

The incumbent will assist with coordination of reports for trustees, auditors and internal stakeholders, contribute to audits and year-end processes and ensure data

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field; substitution on a year-for-year basis may apply.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, FASB, GASB standards and ability to apply accounting treatments.
  • Advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, internet and financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry to intermediate-level accounting and financial activities for Student Affairs and University Advancement.
  • Prepare journal entries and conduct account reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual audit and tax preparations (Form 990).
  • Coordinate reporting needs to internal and external stakeholders ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support Board reports and financial statements.
